| Pricing for Photos and Panoramas |
| | Yes, I can travel - hire me and you will not regret you will have done it! Below are some estimations I would like to have for my photos or panoramas.
A fixed price is not really very realistic. Each panorama can be different and each panorama may need different post processing. The price must take this into account. However, to give you an idea what sort of money you would need to pay, I still need to provide guidelines of some sort.
Kite panoramas are even more difficult, sometimes I risk all my equipment; sometimes I need the help of an assistant; sometimes it is just not possible to fly; or I need to revisit a location one or more times because the wind conditions can be fickle. Also, for those who do not realize how difficult flying can be, in most cases I cannot walk with an airborne kite because of overhead electric wires. Flying in a city is even more dangerous and very risky. So on one hand KAP (kite aerial photography) is not an easy thing to do, on the other one the results cannot be compared to anything else and can produce superior panoramas or photos that you will be proud of.
Having acquainted you with some of the difficulties, here is a rough idea of what price you are looking at. | | | | Standard panoramas | | | | Standard panoramas taken from the ground level with a tripod: 130 Euro per panorama (when you order a minimum of 10 panoramas) + expenses. Then the more you order the less you pay. If you want more panoramas - we may negotiate the price for one panorama. In addition, I can create an HDR panorama or a panorama with extended dynamic range (MDR). Both need to use bracketing for each photo in a row. Unfortunately, this makes panoramas more expensive as the post processing can be very time consuming. It can take me a few hours or even a whole day to do it properly, and - believe me - not because I don't know how to do it, but because I do. | | | | Kite photos/panoramas | | | This is even more difficult to say one amount, so please think of it as a basic price - difficulties will certainly add to it. Photo session: photos taken from 1 to 3 places. If I can walk with a kite, I may photograph a building, for example, from all around without any extra charge. If, for some reason, I cannot take off more than once - it is your risk. This sort of session will cost you 1000 Euro. If you want additional panoramas, add 150 Euro for each panorama.
Panorama session: this will cost you 1000 Euro + expenses for panoramas from up to 3 places (similar to photos) - so I guarantee you at least 1 panorama and, if it is possible, up to 3 to 5 panoramas.
Flying in a city or other risky places will either cost more or you get fewer panoramas or photos. There may also be extra fees to cover my additional expenses if wind conditions are bad and I have to revisit a location a few times and stay in a hotel for a day or two. | | | | Photo session from the ground | | | | I always try my best! I produce at least 50 photos on one location, often twice as many or sometimes more. If my lenses are not wide enough (I have very wide lenses though). I also take a few "flat" panoramas, and they are included without extra charge. I always take RAW camera photos that need post processing, which takes me another day to do up to 3 days. This sort of session will cost 1000 Euro + expenses. | | | | Panorama session from the ground | | | | If you need flat panoramas for extra resolution or to cover a very wide angle view (over 120°) - each panorama will cost 100 Euro if you order at least 15 panoramas + expenses. If you want 160° to look like 120° but still show 160° this will cost you extra. If you want an especially high resolution panorama with more than 5 photos in a row, this will be more expensive: the more photos the higher the cost. | | | | My equipment | | | After a very long search I decided to go for a Canon camera. In my opinion Canon has best technology in their CMOS system that is able to produce great images with superior quality. As I change my camera almost once a year and upgrade it to a new model - I use cheaper semi-professional cameras - 400D (at the moment) - a 10 mpx camera. My photography doesn’t need a fast camera, and panorama technology together with my skills enable me to overcome the resolution restrictions. Also, professional cameras are very big and heavy - this, in many cases, would lead to some additional problems.
I use only professional lenses, and I choose them very carefully. In most cases they are not huge zooms (zooms are not very good anyway when it comes to image quality or edge quality). I would rather use fixed focus lenses like Leica 19mm, Zeiss T* lenses or some Rollei HFT or Nikon lenses. Sure, I still have some zooms too and they are great tools, but I use them usually when I have to and take special care of the exposure. I have carefully tested my lenses and know them very well.
For KAP, at the moment, I use a 7 mpx IXUS 700 Canon camera. The image quality isn’t as good as from my 400D but it’s more likely to take off with the IXUS than any other camera. I would rather do my job and make my client happy instead of being grounded by wind conditions. I may be flying with a G7 soon. |
